No Such Thing as Eminent Domain Abuse.

The flawed premise of the arguments utilized by the critics of widespread eminent domain usage is that land can be privately owned outside of the limitations set forth in the titles provided by government entities. The government has an interest in all land, as evidenced by the fact that property taxes are continuously levied. In essence, the so-called "owners" of the property are actually leasing the land from the government, and the property taxes serve as the rent. Since the government has ownership interests in all land and property, it is certainly within its power to dictate just who gets to utilize the space and how much they pay for that privilege.

Thus, while some might argue that it is improper for government to seize land from one party and give it to another in order to obtain a higher tax base, the reality is that such complainers should be thankful that any justification for the seizure is offered at all. Since government owns the land, there is really no reason as to why government agencies should be prevented from randomly taking any property that they might desire, and provide its use to an occupant that best serves the particular agency. By exercising that justifiable right, any government agency could use valuable land to persuade individuals or corporations to conduct themselves in a manner that pleases the government. By pleasing the government, the individual or corporation is in essence pleasing society, thus adding even more justification for the seizure. As such, all land could be converted into a means of serving society in the best way possible.

Along a similar vein, eminent domain should be extended in a manner that allows for a more reasonable distribution of desirable land. The public would be better served if hi-rise beachfront hotels were government owned because rental rates could be set so low that any person could even afford to stay in the penthouse suites. Likewise, it is unfair that key land in the downtown area is controlled by large corporations with deep pockets. There are many small businesses that would like to occupy prime space, so again, the public would be best served if such space was seized and made available to the little guy.

The only problem with the interpretation of the eminent domain laws is that such laws are limited to real property. A case can easily be made for similar equitable treatment of personal property. For instance, there are people that own several cars, while other citizens are forced to walk to work. The public would be better served if such property were seized from those that do not use it in a way that best serves society, and given to those that have better plans for the item in question.

However, to ground the recent arguments against the positions taken by local governments regarding eminent domain implementations, a simple solution is available. In order to circumvent the argument that a municipality will be better off if the property is seized and offered to another party that will convert the land to a higher tax producing purpose, all a current owner has to do is simply bid up what he is willing to pay in property taxes to the government. If a developer can bump the tax rate up to $5K per year, then property owner can bid $6K. If the developer then offers $7K, the owner can bid again. The result will be a maximization of revenue to the government, so the public purpose is served, and property owners that wish to retain their land have an opportunity to do so. This method is certainly fair, for rent in any form is subject to the price set by the owner, and if the government as the effective owner can get a higher rate, then it should be free to do so.

Britain's Sailors - Revisited

Great Britain has broken the ice for us by essentially surrendering to the Islamic tidal wave that the Muslim tsunami has launched toward our shores. Iran captured British sailors in waters that were outside of their territory, paraded the captives in direct violation of the Geneva Conventions, and then graciously returned the prisoners after their use was maximized. Rather than appearing upset or offended, the plucky British sailors were all smiles and laden with souvenirs, and having shed their military duds for snappy suits, they showed the world how keen it was to be held by a swell bunch of guys like the Iranians. For this unusual hospitality, Tony Blair thanked the Iranians for being such good sports about the whole matter, expressed his hopes that the captives hadn’t been too much trouble, and offered to pay for their boarding expenses out of his own pocket. Blair gushed about what a wonderful people the Iranians were, and basically made it clear that it would be totally okay by him if Iran wanted to commit more mayhem in the region. An evil nation would have retaliated with military action, but Blair once again has shown that the British know just how to achieve peace in out time.

By their acts, the British have finally surrendered to the promoters of Islam. Hopefully, we in the United States will follow this lead and open negotiations for our surrender as well. Speaker Pelosi has paved the way for our capitulation, and she has made it clear that our constitution will be no hindrance to those that wish to obtain peace at any price. Pelosi has demonstrated to the Syrians that we are willing to effect a coup de tat by sidestepping the President and the constitution in an effort to offer concessions to the Muslims, something no other American leader has had the guts to do. Though some might whine about the inappropriateness of the act, the truth is that it is about time that somebody in Washington formally displayed the fact that the executive branch is irrelevant when it interferes with the desires of the party that holds power in Congress. One rarely sees such bold leadership as displayed by Pelosi and the Democrats, for most heads of state are hesitant to concede defeat just to keep from risking injury, especially when they have a vastly superior military and economy as compared to the opposition. But both Democrats and our British cousins are willing to throw in the towel and beg for mercy in an effort to keep any harm from coming our way, and such concern for the citizenry is truly touching. Unlike some stubborn remnants of the old America, Democrats and the British realize that it is much better to live as a slave in a theocracy than to risk death defending some ridiculous notion such as freedom.

In order to show support for our de facto commander in chief, we should waste no time in voicing our approval of the actions that have implied our willingness to formally surrender to Iran and the Muslim world. If we delay, the British might gain more favor with our conquerors by boasting about how they raised the white flag first, and that will mean that the Muslims might like us less than they do the British; something we just cannot risk. For her part, Speaker Pelosi has made some serious inroads by donning her scarf of female humility while touring the lands of our new masters. She has made great efforts to show that we are willing to toss our constitution into the garbage heap in order to circumvent the crazies that would resist Islamic domination, and we cannot afford to lose our Pelosi momentum. We need to get behind her and urge all of our leaders to plead, beg, and grovel at the feet of the prominent Muslim leaders in an effort to obtain mercy on our behalf. Every day that we allow our leaders to resist just makes the Muslims that much angrier, and that just means they might hurt that much more because of our defiance.

Let’s not let Pelosi’s naked grab for the presidency result in failure. Urge your representatives to formally bypass the executive branch in all surrender negotiations, and let’s stop resisting the Muslims before someone else gets hurt. Wouldn’t you rather see your pre-teen daughter married to an octogenarian than to risk offending the Muslims by eschewing their culture?

Free the Fort Dix Terrorists!

Obviously we failed in our duty as a nation to make the Fort Dix conspirators feel truly welcome in our country. If we had merely adopted a bit more of their culture, and made efforts to curtail the parts of our culture that they found offensive, these misunderstood gentlemen would not have felt such a need to punish us.

America needs to stop insisting that people who relocate here from other countries adopt our ways. Immigrants put forth a great deal of effort when they leave their native soil, and they should be encouraged to continue practicing their customs and speaking their own language even though they live among us. We failed to make these Muslim men feel that they were free to live under Sharia law, free to convert non-believers by any means necessary, and free to abide by the edicts set forth by their imams instead of the Western leaders that they despise. We should welcome different types of people, even if their particular brand of diversity encompasses a severe hatred of our culture, people, and government.

The incarceration of these Muslims for the simple expression of their beliefs is a crime far greater than anything they were planning. As such, these poor souls should be released from jail, and an apology should be issued for the audacity that was displayed by our professed disdain for the manner in which they express their religion. Destroying the West is simply a cornerstone in the culture of the Muslim world, and we embarrass ourselves by displaying such intolerance of their ways. Thus, we need to let Muslims freely practice their religion in our country, and we need to halt any activity that offends them. To do otherwise risks having them dislike us.

What Were the French Thinking?

A black day has fallen upon us, for world socialism has been dealt the kind of punch that Mike Tyson reserves for the most intimate of partners. A mob of renegade voters in France misread their ballots and inadvertently allowed a right wing voice to creep in under the radar, and now the greatest ally possessed by the American Left has been muted. There is cautious hope that a recount will be instigated, and perhaps Jimmy Carter’s hammer and sickle sweater will be back from the dry cleaners in time for him to oversee the new election. Unfortunately, the defeated party appears to be giving up with only a modest display of rioting, looting, and physical assaults, but there is still hope that widespread destruction flares up. Al Sharpton has agreed to catch a Concorde out of LaGuardia in hopes of fanning the flames until the election can be overturned, though he admits that without a racial victim to exploit his chances are pretty weak.

With the defeat of our socialist brothers, sisters, and pre-op in betweens, the conservatives have been given restored hope of possibly defeating our run to world domination. France, the epitome of leftist utopian thinking, has been a shining light in their embrace of the concept of total surrender to Islamic terrorists, massive interference in business by the government, disdain for anything American, and their tendency to eschew even the most basic of hygiene products. The French have been model citizens for those of us on the American left, and it is heartbreaking to see them defeated with no real chance of disputing the election results.

With any luck, the world will see that global warming affected the climate at the polling centers, and the voters inadvertently selected the wrong name as a result of their heat induced disorientation. Likewise, some of the electorate stated that they voted for the candidate on the right because they feared GW Bush would invade France if they elected their preferred socialist choice. Still others report that they were kept away from the polls by Florida cops that were in the country training for the 2008 American presidential elections. Based on the anecdotal evidence, it is clear that the French people were prohibited from electing the candidate that they really wanted. And as usual, it was the fault of Bush, global warming, and police intimidation at the polls.

Watada - Coward, Or True American Hero?

Soldiers, like anyone else, should be free to vote their conscience before engaging in any activity, regardless of the timing. Hence, if Watada decided that the war wasn't for him just when it came time to board the plane, then that was his right. A person should not be bound by a contract, a pledge of service, a wedding vow, or any other obligation if the compliance with the agreement is no longer in the best interest of the obligatee. In this case, Watada had apparently had a change of heart regarding his desire to serve in the military when it became clear that there could be a genuine risk involved in doing so. Thus, he was within his rights to rescind the contract he signed with the Army, and should indeed be applauded as being a person that does what he wishes, regardless of whatever commitment he had previously made.

America should be honored to have citizens that are willing to renege on their obligations, for it shows that we are a nation of people that follow their hearts, even if it means the forfeiture of ones honor and dignity. Watada is truly a brave person, for he resisted the call to do something that he didn't want to, unlike the cowards that meekly hopped on the airplane that was to take them away from home. The soldiers that went weren't of a strong enough spirit to remain with their families even though they likely wanted to, so they do not deserve the accolades of our citizenry. Americans dislike cowards, and those that didn't resist the mandate that sent them far from home were indeed such cowards. Instead, America admires heroic men like Watada, men that are willing to go back on their word if necessary, men that are willing to trade their dignity if it becomes convenient.

So let's not think of the sheep that were herded into the C-130's that were headed off to Baghdad, instead let us focus on the true American hero of the day, Mr. Watada. He relects the very soul of our current congress, and he emulates the celebrities we all love so much. Watada is the face of the new Democratic America, and we love him for it.

A Message From Some Nutty Soldier

From the time I rejoined the military to participate in this war, I have been asked why I would want to do it. Why would I leave a good home, an excellent family, and a prosperous business just to go fight in a war that might not even be a righteous cause? Some people have even expressed their amazement that anyone would choose to go fight for anything when they were free from the obligation.

My initial inspiration came from the times when I would review the military casualties on the CNN website; the faces of the young soldiers that had been killed haunted me. They were fighting for the concept of freedom and honor, yet they were too young to have really reaped the benefits of the former, though they certainly possessed the latter. I thought of these young people, and I pondered the concept that perhaps they might have been a bit safer if an older, more experienced soldier had been there with them. I could certainly serve in that role, but I was busy with a family and a business. I was but one man, could they not get along without me?

When my son Alex joined the ROTC unit at school, I began to spend time with kids who would likely be in the military soon. Some of them may wind up in Iraq someday, my son included. I had hopes that when that time came, some older, wiser heads would look after these young people and help keep them safe. But it would have to be some other person doing the watching, after all, I had a family that loved me and it wouldn’t be fair to leave them behind. Shouldn’t I just let somebody else leave their family to look after my son and these other fine cadets?

I read everything I could about the war, and I was unsure whether it was a proper war. Was it a fight against worldwide terrorism? Was it a fight to secure the oil that drives our economy, and if so, was that bad? Or was it simply a contest between national leaders, a Bush vs. Hussein revenge match? I would think of the troops caught up in the conflict. Did the reason for the struggle alter the sense of duty for the men and women who were now destined to fight? The answer was no, for they would do their duty out of a sense of honor and belief in their country because that is what a fine soldier does. Their dedication was not a result of mindless adherence to government propaganda, rather it is because they each are aware that it is the duty of the soldier to fight when called upon to do so. That is their job, and every military decision cannot be held open for debate and voted on, else the security of our nation would crumble. So it came down to the fact that regardless of the reasons for the war, there were fine young men and women caught up in it, and they needed the support of their fellow countrymen. I could pin a yellow ribbon on my car and make a donation to the U.S.O., wouldn’t that be sufficient support for our soldiers?

For many people, the answer to these questions would be yes. There is no belittlement in such responses, for not everyone can make the leap into such a chasm as I have. That is not a statement to elevate myself at the expense of others, for it is not reasonable to expect every man to make such a transition. But it was a transition I felt compelled to make.

I believe in our country, our way of life. I have faith in our economic system, and I see the United States as defined in our constitution as being the epitome of the way free people should live. I enjoy the opportunity that my land has given me, and I see our future as a bright one, even though an occasional cloud may appear. I want my son to enjoy his life to the fullest, and I am very grateful that he has such a fine nation to live it in. There are those that detract from our nation, those who seek personal attention via the flagellation of the very land that makes them prosperous, but those are people who would not be satisfied anywhere. If a man cannot be happy and successful in the United States, then he would be a miserable failure anywhere. Our country is magnificent, it is rich, and it is strong. Such characteristics provide a lighting rod for the criticisms of those who are dissatisfied with their own land and basic lot in life. Fortunately for them, our nation is also kind, so we rarely strike back at their mosquito bites into our vein of national identity. Envious men lie in wait for us, and we must maintain the resources to thwart their attempts to pull us down to their level. In order to do this, we must have people that are willing to fight, and fight tenaciously. We must have people who will defend the position we take as a nation, even if they might not be in agreement with the particular policy. We must have people who are willing to set aside their comforts, bid adieu to those they love, and walk into the fire of Hades itself if need be. We must have men who are aware of their duty, the duty to fight as they have agreed to do regardless of their personal concerns. We must have men of honor, the honor that drives men to fight with courage, and to fight without thoughts of pillage and plunder, but rather to fight for simple liberty and freedom. And we must have men who believe in their country, the United States, the greatest assembly of people ever created on this earth.

I have opted to leave my family, the family that I love and cherish as much as any man can. I have opted to leave my home, a home that has been host to wonderful friends. I have opted to leave my work, a successful business that was created solely by my lovely wife and I from nothing. I have done this because I could not stand by and leave our nation’s fight up to other people. I could not bear to think of the men and women who have died, and those that might join them if I choose to remain comfortably at home. I hate to be apart from my wife and son, my home, my business, my life, more than there are words to describe. But I had to join in the fight and serve in the best capacity that I possibly could.

My reward for this gamble has been magnificent. I have had the tremendous privilege of serving with some of the finest men I have ever known. These are men that one might pass on any given day and not think much about one way or the other. These men are your police officers, plumbers, truck drivers, salesmen, postal clerks, and so on. But these men are also soldiers. They are front line, in the thick of the fight, hard-core combat soldiers who do the nastiest, most dangerous work in the military. These men have dedication and the finest sense of loyalty to their country that is imaginable. When one of them falls, it is as if a mighty redwood has come down, for the effect on our nation is hit hard by the loss of such individuals. But I have had the privilege and the utterly magnificent honor to have served on the streets with the toughest, best men our country has to offer. I have enjoyed their enthusiasm, I have laughed at their humor, I have sweated and been afraid with them, and I have even felt the sorrow when they have been cut down in battle. I am truly grateful for having been able to serve with them. The price to be with them in Iraq was indeed great, but it was far from too high.

Hillary, The Best Candidate For America

Critics have leveled charges that no Democratic candidate seems to have any set plans that they would implement if elected, rather, the Democratic lineup has been accused of just launching criticisms instead of offering solutions. Hillary Rodham effectively terminated such irresponsible talk during a recent speech in which she assured voters that if elected she would fix health care, end global warming, stop the genocide in Darfur, and end the war in Iraq. Hillary has also stated that she would be willing to seize the profits from privately held corporations and apply them to social needs, all while maintaining our current free enterprise system. No other candidate can hope to accomplish such goals, but we have been assured that by giving Ms. Rodham the control of our executive branch, she will see to it that all of these matters are reconciled.

Just think, by tilting one election, all Americans will receive unlimited amounts of free health care just for the asking. No other candidate promises to heal the sick, but Ms. Rodham will see to it that every American receives efficient, government regulated health care. With Ms. Rodham at the helm, we will be able to enjoy a health care system that offers the same efficiency that we have come to expect from other government run services.

Senator Clinton has also assured us that if we give her the power she seeks she will see to it that global warming is stopped. Since global warming is attributed to the self-regulation the sun does as a method to keep from instantly burning itself out, it seems only logical that we as Americans should be willing to give political authority to a person that is capable of altering the actions of the sun itself. The mere fact that an entity with such powers only demands control over one branch of our government is just more evidence of Ms. Rodham’s concern for our well being.

In her speech, our NY Senator informed us that if she were president, she would see to it that the record profits earned by Exxon would be seized by the government and used for finding alternative fuel sources. This is great news, and with any luck a President Rodham would initiate similar seizures from every other corporation, as well as individual workers. If a sales clerk pulls in $200 a week in wages, but it only cost her $100 in gas and other expenses to do her job, then the clerk has earned a surplus of $100. This $100 should then be taken and given to a government agency that would be responsible for finding alternative methods for clothiers to sell their goods. It only makes sense that profits earned are taken by the government and used to put the profit earner out of business. Fortunately for American free enterprise, Ms. Rodham has the rare cerebral quality that allows her to see things in such a light.

Ms. Rodham also states she will end the genocide going on in Darfur. She recognizes that the United States should readily involve itself in the affairs of another nation when that nation is abusing its own citizenry, except in cases where such abuse is being performed by a certain Iraqi dictator. As such, Ms. Rodham makes perfect sense with her desires to stop the killing of citizens in Darfur, while supporting the withdrawal from Iraq and the Cambodian killing field affect that such a withdrawal will lead to. This position is so easy to comprehend that even the Kurds in Iraq know that having their ranks thinned by Saddam was not genocide as defined in Dafur. America was evil for stopping internal Iraqi bloodshed, and America is evil for not stopping the internal bloodshed in Dafur.

Which brings us to our last point: the ending of war in Iraq. Ms. Rodham has agreed to stop the war in the region if we provide her with presidential powers. With her election, the warring factions have apparently agreed to lay down their arms and make no further threats against our nation and our way of life. We will be able to depart from the Middle East forever, simply because president Rodham will broker a truce that will mend the centuries old regional fence. We will be able to stop the war because the threat of terrorism will be halted, and the jihadists will finally realize that violence is not the right answer. It is even rumored that she can negotiate a deal whereby the Bin Laden family will pay to rebuild the World Trade Center.

It seems like such a bargain to obtain medical salvation, the manipulation of the sun, the end to the conflict in Darfur, the end of the Iraqi war, and the halt of global terrorism just for providing one individual with presidential powers. Surely an omnipotent being like Ms. Rodham has offered us enough for her part of the deal, though it is certainly tempting to hold out for another concession or two. Perhaps Ms. Rodham will toss in eternal life, instant weight loss, and a cure for baldness if we guarantee her two terms.

I Am A Loyal Democrat

I am a Loyal Democrat.

I will take the side of any entity that declares itself to be an enemy of the United States. I will consider any action taken by my government to be improper, and defend the position of any nation that opposes my own. I will not stand by while the concepts of freedom and liberty are allowed to infect the thoughts of repressed peoples. Rather, I will combat such efforts and convince the slaves of dictatorships that they have it better than anyone else.

I am a Loyal Democrat.

I will tell all Americans that they had 9/11 coming as retribution for all of our evil deeds inflicted upon members of the most peaceful religion on earth. I will work to undermine any effort to destroy the Islamic tidal wave of terror that has vowed to wash onto our beaches. I will strive to weaken our military as it attempts to carry out its mission overseas. I shall encourage total surrender to any foe that threatens us.

I am a Loyal Democrat.

I shall stir up domestic unrest by separating my fellow citizens into groups, and then I will encourage each group to distrust the next, and convince each that I am their one true friend. Through this magnificent deception, I will rule them all. I will convince minorities that they are inferior, and that they need my special help to succeed in life. Once I have them suspicious of others and fully demoralized, I will keep them down, and make their every gain dependent on what I decide to let them do. I shall oppress minorites worse than any avowed racist could ever hope to.

I am a Loyal Democrat.

I will make every effort to criticize people that achieve, to hinder those that aspire, and ridicule those that display self-worth. In spite of my lack of personal merit, I will elevate myself in the eyes of others by bringing people with actual character down. I will prey on people's envy of others' success, and I will gain undeserved power as a result. I will take from those that earn until they lose the motivation to build up mankind any longer.

I am a Loyal Democrat.

I will promote the tyranny of socialism, and crush the only economic system that has advanced mankind. And when we are all financially destitute and controlled by an omnipotent government, I shall laugh at the destruction I have wrought, for I truly hate mankind.

I am a Loyal Democrat.

Remember me in 2008 kiddies.....

Bilingual Hillary

The criticism of Hillary for her change in accent while speaking to predominantly southern black audiences is bewildering. The fact is, her actions are actually quite commendable, for they show a wilingness of a politician to speak in a language that can be easily understood by the target audience.

If Hillary had addressed an all Japanese audience in authentic Japanese, people would be impressed. If she gave a speech at a Muslim mosque in perfect Farsi, the kudos would flow. But let her speak to a predominantly black audience in genuine ebonics, and the catcalls begin. Such condemnation is improper, and those that launch it should be ashamed of themselves.

It is obvious that Hillary's critics are just jealous of her ability to communicate with the people that toil faithfully in the Democrat fields, and the critics only embarrass themselves by displaying their lack of empathy for those in society that eschew proper English in favor of their own brand of communication. This is just more proof that conservatives are racists, whereas leftists realize blacks cannot communicate using white speech patterns.

Hillary and Obama really do need to team up, for they could create the ultimate Democrat weapon: a "clean" black guy that can talk nearly as good as white folks, and a white gal that can rattle off cornpone jus' lak sheeza sittin on da fronpoach waiten for de chitlins to finish up on de frya. So go nurse your jealous nature you stuffy conservatives. Democrats know how to talk to black voters, and that just sticks in your craw.

Democrats are Patriots Too!

It is time to call out some of the posters to this site that seem to think parody and satirical jabs at the Democrats is something to applaud.  The fact is, the posters of such rubbish are misstating the actual positions of the Democratic Party. Democrats are patriots too, and they think the United States is a fine place, but it just has some flaws.

For instance, Democrats appreciate freedom, but we just don’t think people should be free to have more wealth than another citizen has. Wealth should be distributed more fairly than it is now, and freedom is abused when one person ends up with more personal wealth than does another.

Democrats are also the champions of minorities, and the United States has a unique habit of considering its minorities to be lesser people. As Democrats, we know that minorities lack the ability to compete on equal terms with whites, so we support giving them an edge in the form of affirmative action. Our racists opposition fails to comprehend that minorities have inferior abilities and cannot perform as well in school or in the workplace, so their bigoted ideology requires all people, regardless of race, compete on the same level. America cannot abide by a policy that mandates such equal footing, so that policy has to be overcome.

There has also been a lot of insinuations cast out that claim Democrats are the appeasement party, and we are willing to surrender to terrorists. In this case, we are not so much for appeasement, but we do feel that an apology to the Muslims is in order. Western culture has run roughshod over the peaceful inhabitants of the Middle East for centuries, and we have made a practice of plundering their resources without any thought of compensation. By having so offended the Muslims, we are only getting our just desserts. Rather that provoke them further, we Democrats favor making major concessions that will build up the self-esteem of the terrorists. Surely we can endure a little humility in order to make Muslims feel better about themselves. And making concessions is always better than killing.

The list could go on, but the point is made. So quit poking fun at Democrats, for we love our country just as much as you do. We just wish it wasn’t the racist, imperialistic, war mongering, polluting, oppressive, unfair, unjust, hateful, disgusting filth hole that it is now. We Democrats are proud to be Americans, but we are ashamed of everything our country stands for and everything
it has ever done. Other than that, we’re cool, so lay off.

Embrace the Culture of the Terrorists

It is getting tiresome to hear the anti-diversity ramblings of the Western anti terrorists crowd.  Such narrow minded bigots choose to ignore the unique traditions and beliefs held by the jihadists, and they insist upon forcing Muslims to abide by our highly questionable Western standards.

Case in point is the incident with the six imams that were simply intimidating their Western co-passengers prior to takeoff.  These men all believe that their god has ordained them with the task of murdering all non-believers, and rather than celebrate such diversity, we opted to castigate them for expressing their religious beliefs.  Now these unfortunate gentlemen have to go through the hassle of a lawsuit just to protest the usurpation of their right to free religious expression.  Because some anti-Muslim fanatics aboard a jetliner considered the act of praying to Allah something to be concerned about, these poor souls were made to feel unaccepted in our world, and we should all be quite embassed by the rudeness we displayed toward these foreigners.

Though it is true that every terrorist hijacker has been a Muslim, there is no reason for anyone to fear the actions of another passenger who also might happen to be a follower of Islam. We owe it to the Muslim people to make them feel welcome in our society, and we should strive to eliminate every possible act that could be considered offensive or repressive to their ways. Thus, rather than be fearful of strange acting Muslim air passengers, we should rejoice at their religious enthusiasm, and to make them feel totally welcome instead of feeling oppressed, we should eliminate the need for any Muslim to encounter airport screening at any time. By showing them more leniency than we show our own citizens, we are sure to win their trust.  Yes, the occasional terrorist would slip through, but it would be a far better thing for our society to lose an occasional aircraft than to risk appearing as offensive to the peaceful followers of Islam. Our main goal at this time should be the total appeasement of Allah's followers, else they might become angry and punish us again.

The worse thing we can do as a nation is to appear culturally insensitive, for that is a far greater crime than anything the terrorists could ever do to us. And as many of our leading politicians insinuate, our imperialistic nation is already morally inferior to the terrorists, so there is no sense in making things worse.

Stop Prison Overcrowding

The reason prisons are crowded is simply because we as a society too often fail in our responsibility to look out for the needs of others. If we were not so preoccupied with making our own individual lives better, we could see that many of our fellow citizens are in need of financial help or general assistance.

For instance. no car thief actually wants to take property that isn't rightfully his, but society has failed to teach such an individual the talents it takes to obtain a decent job that will provide the means of obtaining such an expensive item. Since society failed to teach the thief how to easily earn the funds to buy a car, then society has no right to complain when the talentless individual turns to thievery. When a person is driven to steal, they should receive our sympathy, not our wrath. Their theft is our fault, and it is our obligation to make amends for our failings.

Likewise, murderers are often mentally off balance, and it is no more proper for us to jail an imbalanced murderer than it would be for us to implement a policy whereby we incarcerate every mentally retarded person. Mental illness should be treated with compassion, not locked away because it is inconvenient to treat.

Pedophiles are another type of victim of societies failings. Often, pedophiles are found to be former victims of sexual abuse, so to punish them is akin to locking away a merchant that has been robbed. It is wrong for society to incarcerate the victims of a crime, and as our courts often discover, most pedophiles are the real victims. They typically feel rejected by a society that has allowed them to be abused, so rather than lock them away, we need to show them trust and kindness by inviting them to openly live among us. Showing trust will ease the sting of the crime that society has perpetrated against these victims, and it something that each and every one of us owe any child molester.

With all of this in mind, it is wrong for us to place thieves, murderers, and pedophiles in jail. As a society, we should have to deal with the problems that we have instilled into these victims, and not be able to conveniently tuck them out of sight.

This will allow us to free our jails for real criminals, the perpetrators of hate crimes and the deniers of Global Warming.
