The Politics of Fear

In their effort to promote their agenda, Republicans are engaging in the politics of fear. They are fomenting panic over non-issues, and then they claim to be the only entity that can solve the supposed problem. Scaring people into voting for you is an unethical practice, and Republicans should be condemned for engaging in such tactics, especially since there are so many threats that are genuine

In contrast, Democrats eschew the practice of scaring the voters.  Democrats know that instead of being driven into the realm of unwarranted fear, citizens need to be able to focus on the issues that can improve their lives and keep disaster at bay. As such, while Republicans quibble about imaginary terrorists, Democrats work toward conquering the real dangers that threaten the collective.

For example, common citizens need to be concerned with eliminating the global warming that will incinerate the planet in just a few short years.  If Al Gore’s proposals are not followed to the letter, the surface of the earth will resemble that of Mercury by the end of the century.  Such a warning is not considered to be fear-mongering since the threat is genuine, and has been validadted by the internationally recognized scientific expert on global warming, Al Gore.

Democrats also recognize that we need to show concern for the wholesale healthcare crisis that is crippling our medical industry.  Americans need to see to it that a system of government provided health care is implemented, otherwise everyone will be without medical care, and millions will die from untreated disease and ailments. As it stands, most Americans have to decide between feeding their children and buying expensive health insurance from profit bloated insurance companies.  If left untreated, virtually every American will have to forego medical assistance, thus guaranteeing that the entire nation will be diseased and crippled within a few decades.

On the financial front, citizens need to secure protection from the greedy corporations who wish to cut wages to such a level that all workers would be reduced to living in conditions akin to that found in Nazi concentration camps.  Unless control over corporations is granted to government representatives, no American will recieve a living wage because corporate CEO salaries will absorb all of the employment budgets of individual companies.  Without government control over our corporations, virtually every American will be reduced to living in dire poverty within a few short years.

On a similar note, unless checked, corporations will enthusiastically dump toxic pollutants into the drinking water of every community and will fill the skies with toxic soot.  Unless government representatives are empowered to screen private corporations, millions will die because of poisoned water and air.

Finally, current conditions are indicative that the government needs to take control of the lending and oil industries in order to avert a situation whereby everyone is evicted from their home and left to freeze to death in the wintertime.  These industries only care about making a profit, and as such they offer no service to their fellow man.  Corporations should be concerned about helping the collective, not making a living off of it.

In spite of the many bona-fide issues that the citizens need to be concerned with, Republicans feel they must resort to the politics of fear in order to get elected. Democrats refuse to join in on these unethical methods; rather they choose to focus on stopping the numerous problems that are guaranteed to eradicate all life on the planet. Voters need to decide whether they want to support the party that seeks power by promoting fear, or support the party whose goal it is to save the planet from utter destruction.
