Cameron Diaz and her pro-Mao handbag is tres chic. How great is it that a super rich Hollywood starlet is willing to go to a poor South American region and display her ability to be simpatico with the economically downtrodden? Cameron has shown the world that despite the riches she has amassed in the world of the capitalists, she is really a soldier in the cause of world communism. Her Mao handbag was certainly an inspiration to the tacky lower classes that she allowed to act as an entourage on her tour of Peru, for it sowed that despite her wealth, she is a peasant at heart. As for the critics in the region that expressed dismay regarding her support of a murderous regime, a pox on them if they were tasteless enough to critique her fashion statement simply because Maoist forces had managed to massacre thousands of their kinsmen.
As most of the Hollywood elite knows, people are better off without wealth. Ambitious third world residents need to be reminded that communist dictatorships are the way to go, and that rich Americans simply adore totalitarian dictators. Thankfully, Cameron has stepped up to the plate and has taken some of the workload off of Jimmy Carter.
So kudos to Ms. Diaz for having the fortitude to show the Peruvians that she supports Mao, regardless of the death and oppression his ideas has caused them. Perhaps if the Peruvians emulated Cameron in her fondness for Chinese communism, they too would be fabulously rich movie stars with residences in Beverly Hills.
